About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all surveying operations across complex infrastructure projects, including piers, wharfs, and heavy civil structures.
  • Understand Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) requirements for each project, including control networks, layout procedures, and QA/QC protocols.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to support construction activities with accurate and timely survey data.
  • Manage staffing of the survey department along with personnel and equipment schedules.
  • Establish project survey plans and outline specific field and office procedures.
  • Oversee the use and maintenance of advanced survey equipment such as GPS, total stations, laser scanners, and hydrographic systems.
  • Train and mentor field surveyors and technicians to foster technical excellence.
  • Spend approximately 30% of time in the field observing and instructing survey operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Construction Survey, Dimensional Control, or Industrial Measurement.
  • Proficiency in survey software including Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or Leica Infinity.
  • Strong understanding of geodetic principles, construction layout, and hydrographic surveying.
  • Ability to travel and relocate as needed based on project locations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License in a state where Kiewit performs work.
  • Specific experience supporting bridge or marine-related projects.
