Distribution Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design overhead and underground distribution systems using client standards and industry codes
• Perform engineering and structural calculations using specialized design tools
• Develop standard and non-standard design solutions in collaboration with construction teams
• Prepare project deliverables including estimates, material take-offs, and construction packages
• Conduct field activities such as site reconnaissance and construction inspections
• Collaborate with clients and external stakeholders to meet project requirements
• Mentor junior staff and support technical training
• Review and validate designs for compliance with standards and best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering
• P.Eng. license in a Canadian jurisdiction
• At least 3 years of experience in distribution system design
• Hands-on experience with powerline design tools like CYMCAP, PLS-CADD, or SPIDAcalc
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Project management experience
• Exposure to transmission or substation design
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or MicroStation
