Distinguished AI Engineer

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams of engineers, research scientists, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy AI software components including foundation model training, LLM inference, and similarity search.
• Implement state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve scalability, cost, latency, and throughput.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, and PyTorch.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
• 15+ years of experience in software engineering or solution architecture.
• 10+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing.
• 8+ years of experience programming with Python, Go, or Java.
• 6+ years of experience with industry-recognized ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Spark.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics.
• 5+ years of experience building, scaling, and optimizing ML systems.
• Experience developing and deploying ML solutions in public cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with MLOps tools (e.g., ML Flow) and Generative AI applications.
• Contributions to open source ML software or published research in ML techniques.
