Dispatcher

Responsibilities

• Act as the in-office Public Safety representative, answering calls for service and walk-up inquiries.
• Gather and articulate critical information to responding officers and patrol staff.
• Coordinate with 911 personnel to request emergency police, fire, or medical assistance.
• Initiate and manage University emergency response procedures to protect life and property.
• Monitor security systems, including video surveillance, access control, fire alarms, and emergency broadcast systems.
• Perform data entry for incident reports, parking records, and University student/employee databases.
• Issue parking permits and University IDs while maintaining accurate digital files.
• Maintain a professional and calm demeanor when interacting with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Ability to speak clearly and be understood via radio and telephone communication.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor during stressful or critical emergency situations.
• Ability to read and apply both written and verbal directives comprehensively.
• Normal hearing to monitor radio traffic, audible alarms, and telephone communications.
• Ability to work the scheduled shift: Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a public safety, 911, or campus security dispatcher.
