Dispatcher

Responsibilities

• Planning routes and accommodating route changes as needed
• Communicating with customers about load details, delivery or pickup times, and special handling requests
• Prioritizing calls according to need and concern while working in compliance with all legal and safety requirements
• Coordinating drivers' schedules, units, trailers, and loads
• Keeping track of transportation regulations and laws to ensure driver compliance
• Monitoring the route and status of units on the ground to coordinate schedules
• Purchasing accurate trucking, county, and state permits as needed
• Communicating in a kind, concise, and honest manner

Requirements

• Experience as a dispatcher or in a relevant position
• Tech-savvy with knowledge of appropriate dispatching methods
• Knowledge of DOT related regulations, procedures, and guidelines
• Proficient in English (oral and written)
• Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities
• Strong active listening and communication skills
• Sound judgment and critical thinking skills
