Dispatch Officer

Responsibilities

• Answer and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching officers or routing to appropriate departments
• Monitor fire, burglary, panic, temperature, and intrusion alarms
• Operate and monitor the Persona card access system to secure or unlock buildings, including emergency lockdowns
• Conduct real-time and post-incident video surveillance using the campus security camera system
• Log all dispatch activity, including calls for service and daily reports, in Omnigo
• Coordinate services with external agencies such as Spokane Police/Fire, Safe Ride, and Uber Health
• Manage parking records via the T2 system and track lost & found items using Crowdfind

Requirements

• Vocational, Associates, or Technical Degree (or equivalent professional experience)
• 1 year of related experience in dispatch, security, or emergency services
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Computer literacy, including proficiency in word processing and data entry
• Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure in high-stress situations
• Ability to pass a background check
• Availability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Communications, or Emergency Management
• Previous work experience in a higher education environment
• Proficiency with security technologies, including video monitoring and card access control
• Familiarity with Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and records management software
• Bilingual or multilingual proficiency
• Knowledge of Clery Act reporting requirements
