Discipline Head, Respiratory Therapy

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and communicate profession standards and competencies to support respiratory therapy practice and documentation
• Implement quality indicators, monitoring, and quality improvement projects to improve patient care outcomes
• Represent the respiratory therapy profession at Professional Advisory Committees and other UHN working groups
• Support the profession to work to full and advanced scope of practice
• Develop and influence respiratory therapy related policy and practice
• Establish collaborative partnerships with stakeholders across education, research, and clinical practice
• Lead practice orientation processes and enable ongoing professional development
• Create opportunities to build research and education capacity within the discipline

Requirements

• Registration as a Respiratory Therapist with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO)
• At least three (3) years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Comprehensive understanding of regulatory standards and legislation related to respiratory therapy practice
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Strong skills in identifying practice issues and collaborative problem-solving
• Ability to implement quality improvement projects and facilitate knowledge translation
• Exceptional decision-making, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous leadership experience in a clinical or academic setting
