Disaster Recovery & Cyber Security Resilience Engineer

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain standardized technical recovery procedures for critical systems, including data backup and system restoration processes.
• Implement the disaster recovery and cyber resilience program framework to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
• Coordinate and participate in regular disaster recovery and cyber security resiliency drills to assess preparedness and identify improvement areas.
• Identify recovery process improvements and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance disaster recovery capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to develop recovery plans for critical clinical applications across various operating systems and cloud platforms.
• Execute regular DR testing, including failover simulations and data restoration, to remediate identified gaps.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
• 5 years of experience in backup and replication technologies, specifically Veeam.
• 5 years of experience in incident response, serving as a primary technical contact during disaster events.
• 5 years of experience in infrastructure engineering with a focus on business continuity or cyber resiliency.
• Demonstrated proficiency with HIPAA Security, NIST, and other relevant healthcare regulations and standards.
• Strong project management skills and experience in work plan development and implementation.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships across diverse departments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within an academic medical center or in healthcare consulting.
• Current Certified Disaster Recovery Engineer (CDRE) designation or the ability to obtain it.
