About the role
Responsibilities
- Counsel and advise students, providing specialized skills and compensatory strategies for disabilities.
- Advocate for students with disabilities with faculty, administrators, and parents.
- Guide faculty on implementing appropriate classroom accommodations.
- Determine eligibility for services and approve specific accommodations.
- Participate in outreach and training efforts to improve university-wide access and service quality.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records in compliance with confidentiality standards.
- Participate in departmental committees and other projects as assigned by the Director.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of experience providing advocacy and support services to students in a post-secondary setting.
- Experience evaluating psycho-educational, psychological, and medical documentation to determine accommodations.
- Strong knowledge of ADAAA and Section 504 regulations.
- Proficiency in assistive technologies and principles of universal design.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
