About the role

Responsibilities

  • Counsel and advise students, providing specialized skills and compensatory strategies for disabilities.
  • Advocate for students with disabilities with faculty, administrators, and parents.
  • Guide faculty on implementing appropriate classroom accommodations.
  • Determine eligibility for services and approve specific accommodations.
  • Participate in outreach and training efforts to improve university-wide access and service quality.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records in compliance with confidentiality standards.
  • Participate in departmental committees and other projects as assigned by the Director.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience providing advocacy and support services to students in a post-secondary setting.
  • Experience evaluating psycho-educational, psychological, and medical documentation to determine accommodations.
  • Strong knowledge of ADAAA and Section 504 regulations.
  • Proficiency in assistive technologies and principles of universal design.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
