Disability Access Point Outreach Assistant

Responsibilities

• Coordinate tabling events, special events, and disability-focused programming to promote community engagement and awareness of available services.
• Identify relevant community events, fairs, and conferences; manage registration and event coordination.
• Order, organize, and maintain event supplies, outreach materials, and promotional items.
• Plan and organize special events featuring speakers, trainers, and subject matter experts on disability-related issues.
• Develop event schedules, prepare materials, and ensure environments are accessible and inclusive.
• Record and transcribe meeting minutes, maintain records and files, and perform accurate data entry.
• Provide accurate program information to the general public and direct callers to appropriate personnel.
• Collaborate with departmental team members to support various administrative tasks.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• One year of experience in customer service or public relations.
• Valid State of Iowa driver’s license.
• Proficiency in typing and data entry with high accuracy and speed.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with diverse audiences, including individuals with disabilities and caregivers.
• Ability to perform a criminal background check and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in event planning principles and community outreach practices.
• Knowledge of procurement processes for ordering supplies and promotional materials.
• Experience working within a disability services or behavioral health environment.
