Director/Senior Director, New Product Planning, Life Sciences

Responsibilities

• Source and evaluate new life sciences opportunities for Lila Origins, screening for scientific differentiation and commercial viability
• Track therapeutic area trends, modality breakthroughs, and deal activity across pharma and biotech
• Match therapeutic modalities to disease areas using biological rationale and competitive landscape analysis
• Build and own market sizing, patient population, and deal economic models to inform go/no-go decisions
• Develop target product profiles and early commercial theses for assets under consideration
• Run primary and secondary research, including KOL interviews and competitor tracking, to stress-test assumptions
• Shape deal structures and partnership constructs alongside Corporate Development
• Contribute to the strategic thesis for therapeutic area focus and modality bets

Requirements

• 6-8+ years in new product planning, commercial assessment, asset strategy, or business development in pharma, biotech, or life sciences VC/growth equity
• Strong scientific literacy in therapeutics, modalities, and disease biology
• Demonstrated ability to match therapeutic modalities to disease areas
• Hands-on experience with market sizing, patient population, forecasting, and deal economic modeling
• Active fluency in industry trends, pipeline movement, and deal activity
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for distilling complex analyses for senior leadership
• Ability to operate in high ambiguity and build structure independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in life sciences (PhD, MS in biology, chemistry, bioengineering) or an MBA with a deep life sciences focus
• Existing network of biotech operators, VCs, KOLs, and pharma BD leaders
• Experience using AI tools for market research, competitor tracking, or modeling
• Prior experience structuring partnership models, joint ventures, or NewCo formation
