About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the University library system and archives across the St. Ambrose University and Mount Mercy campuses.
  • Ensure consistent policies, procedures, and expectations across all campus libraries.
  • Align library collections, services, and programs with the university's curriculum, mission, and vision.
  • Directly supervise and evaluate associate librarians and select library employees.
  • Prepare library budgets, forecast expenditures, and oversee spending in consultation with academic and accounting offices.
  • Monitor library facilities and initiate necessary improvements or actions.
  • Evaluate library effectiveness and efficiency using data-driven quality improvement programs.
  • Cultivate collaboration and respect among staff working within a multi-campus system.
  • Represent the library in professional organizations and consortia.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree from an ALA-accredited institution or an ALA-approved foreign equivalent.
  • 10 years of professional experience in an academic or research library.
  • 5 years of senior-level administrative experience in an academic or research library.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional master's degree or doctorate.
  • Administrative experience in a multi-library system.
