About the role
Responsibilities
- Coordinate activities of various trade specialties including engineers, plumbers, carpenters, electricians, and maintenance workers
- Manage approximately 70 trade staff, overseeing cost estimating, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Inspect work performed by in-house and contract staff across HRA facilities
- Oversee emergency responses and maintenance needs for building occupants
- Manage shop activities related to asbestos removal, lead paint, fire safety, and security system installation
- Implement management controls to assess facility conditions and initiate corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with fire safety, recycling mandates, and building codes
- Participate in establishing policies and procedures for building construction, renovation, and repair
- Supervise the unit in the absence of the Executive Director
Requirements
- Eight years of full-time experience in construction, repair, or rehabilitation of multiple dwellings, commercial, industrial, or public buildings
- Experience as a general contractor, construction superintendent, procurement specialist, or field supervisor
- At least 18 months of supervisory or administrative experience involving responsibility for a large number of buildings
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, or engineering technology (can be applied on a year-for-year basis up to four years)
