Director, Technical Program Management

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Technical Program Managers.
• Define and scale the TPM operating model, including planning rhythms, execution standards, and risk management practices.
• Partner with Product and Engineering executives to drive roadmap execution across complex, cross-functional initiatives.
• Oversee portfolios of high-impact technical programs, ensuring delivery health and timely executive escalation.
• Translate company priorities into clear program structures, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
• Build strong operating mechanisms for planning, execution reviews, and launch readiness.
• Represent the TPM function in senior leadership forums to shape decisions on prioritization and tradeoffs.
• Partner with engineering leadership to improve software delivery practices and developer productivity.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software development program management.
• 5+ years in a dedicated program management role.
• Proven experience owning execution strategy across multiple product or engineering verticals.
• Strong technical judgment with the ability to engage deeply with engineering teams on architecture and delivery risks.
• Exceptional executive communication skills and the ability to create clear narratives for senior leaders.
• Demonstrated experience hiring, developing, and retaining senior TPM talent.
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery practices and the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to manage ambiguity and resolve complex, cross-functional dependencies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading TPM teams in marketplace, SaaS, or consumer technology environments.
• Experience building or transforming a TPM function from the ground up.
• Experience partnering with VP/SVP-level leaders on multi-year technical strategy.
• Ability to use data and execution metrics to improve delivery predictability.
• Familiarity with automation, AI-enabled workflows, or developer productivity tooling.
