About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide scientific leadership for Amgen's targeted protein degradation strategy within the Induced Proximity Platform (IPP).
- Define and execute a long-term scientific vision to expand the reach of the degrader platform into new biological spaces and modalities.
- Drive innovation across the TPD landscape, including molecular glues, heterobifunctional degraders, and tissue-selective degraders.
- Build and mentor a high-performing multidisciplinary team of scientists across chemical biology, proteomics, and drug discovery.
- Champion the integration of AI and data-driven approaches into target identification and ligand discovery.
- Establish strategic external partnerships and identify capability gaps to maintain scientific leadership.
- Partner with Therapeutic Areas, Medicinal Chemistry, and Translational Sciences to maximize platform impact.
Requirements
- Doctorate degree and 4 years of scientific experience, OR Master's degree and 8 years of scientific experience, OR Bachelor's degree and 10 years of scientific experience.
- At least 4 years of experience directly managing people and/or leading teams, projects, or programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Recognized scientific leader with significant contributions to targeted protein degradation or molecular glues.
- Deep expertise in E3 ligase biology, chemical proteomics, structural biology, and translational pharmacology.
- Experience building research capabilities and driving organizational transformation.
- Strong understanding of emerging computational and AI-enabled approaches in drug discovery.
