Director, Strategic Finance

Responsibilities

• Own the development and maintenance of Formlabs’ long-range financial plan, integrating assumptions across product lines, geographies, and channels.
• Build and deliver board materials and executive-level financial packages, including strategic narratives and KPI dashboards.
• Lead cross-functional strategic projects end-to-end, such as pricing strategy for new products and GTM investment cases for new verticals.
• Develop financial frameworks and decision tools to evaluate trade-offs like build vs. buy and R&D portfolio prioritization.
• Partner with the CFO and business unit leaders to shape the annual operating plan and bring financial rigor to planning processes.
• Monitor competitive dynamics and market trends to provide actionable strategic recommendations.

Requirements

• 8-12 years of progressive experience in strategic finance, corporate strategy, investment banking, or management consulting.
• 3-4 years of in-house strategic finance or corporate strategy experience at a scaling company.
• Demonstrated track record of building board-level materials and supporting C-suite audiences.
• Strong financial modeling skills with the ability to build flexible, scenario-driven models from scratch.
• Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and BI tools such as Looker or Tableau.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to distill complex analyses into compelling narratives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience at a hardware or "hard tech" company with an understanding of physical product economics (BOM, COGS, manufacturing).
• Background in investment banking (TMT, industrials) or top-tier strategy consulting.
• Experience leading capital allocation decisions at a scaling, product-led company.
