Director, Strategic Consulting

Responsibilities

• Form impactful and actionable strategic recommendations to drive business model evolution, growth, and innovation through enterprise-wide capability investment and rationalization.
• Develop mid-to-long term technology strategies, investment planning, and groundwork for internal modernization efforts.
• Create cohesive platform strategies and roadmaps by partnering with Business, Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams.
• Provide M&A advisory by assessing the capability landscape and maturity of potential acquisitions in collaboration with Amex Ventures and Corporate Development.
• Prepare and lead high-visibility executive presentations to highlight critical findings and strategic recommendations.
• Solve complex problems using techniques such as Design Thinking, scenario modeling, and business capability modeling.

Requirements

• 10-15 years of professional experience, including prior management consulting experience in technology strategic disciplines.
• Proven experience leading, developing, and mentoring high-performing teams in a consulting or technology setting.
• Strong data analysis skills and a track record of data-driven decision-making.
• Exceptional executive presentation skills with the ability to influence senior leadership in a matrixed organization.
• Deep knowledge of payments, commerce, FinTech innovation, and disruptive technology trends.
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
• Previous experience in Big 4 management consulting.
• Familiarity with Agile Delivery/Methodologies and Lean Portfolio Management.
• Prior exposure to the FinTech and emerging tech landscape within the payment or banking industry.
