Director, Software Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead, grow, and inspire a software team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration
• Own hiring for the team, including defining roles and assessing candidates
• Drive career development through regular 1:1s and meaningful feedback
• Contribute directly as a software engineer by designing systems and writing code
• Lead design reviews and provide technical guidance on major features
• Establish engineering standards, best practices, and coding quality
• Identify and resolve systemic risks such as performance bottlenecks and scaling constraints

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience
• 2+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams
• Strong technical depth in backend systems using Python, Go, or Rust
• Solid understanding of Kubernetes and distributed systems principles
• Experience building scalable, reliable services
• Excellent communication skills for working with cross-functional partners and leadership

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with AI inference serving and LLM workload infrastructure
• Experience with Kubernetes ecosystem tooling, including Operators and Helm Charts
• Background in ML application optimization and productionization
• Experience building cloud-native platforms for enterprise customers
• Experience at a high-growth AI infrastructure company
