Director/Senior Director, Metabolics Research

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic expertise to guide research strategy, experimental design, and translational approaches across metabolic disease programs
• Serve as Program Leader or Research Leader in advancing drug discovery programs from Target ID through clinical candidate delivery and preclinical development
• Manage a Research team and partner across the organization to provide expertise in obesity, diabetes, liver disease, and related metabolic diseases
• Design and execute in vitro and in vivo research plans to evaluate targets modulating metabolic pathways
• Guide assay development and the implementation of new technologies to enable high-quality data packages for portfolio decision-making
• Collaborate within a global matrixed environment, fostering innovation and maintaining external scientific relationships

Requirements

• PhD or MD/PhD in a relevant scientific field
• 12+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
• Deep expertise in metabolic diseases, specifically obesity, diabetes, or liver disease
• Proven experience in drug discovery and early development, including oversight of multiple programs
• Strong track record of providing scientific leadership and developing strategies to address unmet medical needs
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and inspire high-performing scientific teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in inflammation or cardiovascular disease
• Experience with specific modalities such as peptides and antibodies
• Familiarity with advanced technologies like genomics, transcriptomics, network/systems biology, or machine learning
