Director, Protein Sciences

Responsibilities

• Lead an entrepreneurial team of scientists responsible for high-throughput production and characterization of antibodies and related proteins.
• Establish and communicate best practices for biochemistry and cell biology techniques, including expression, purification, and functional characterization.
• Ensure high-quality data management using electronic laboratory environments and LIMS to support AI/ML discovery methods.
• Partner with research informatics and laboratory automation teams to implement efficient protein production workflows.
• Manage outsourced protein production and characterization work with CROs to complement internal resourcing.
• Serve as a key interface with downstream CMC functions and external CDMOs to enable seamless molecule progression.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing scientific unit while fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.

Requirements

• PhD in Protein Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology, Structural Biology, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of experience in biologics drug discovery and development.
• Deep knowledge of antibody expression, purification, and characterization workflows.
• Experience implementing automation solutions to enable high-throughput protein production.
• Proven experience managing biologics CROs to expand production capacity.
• Strong track record of leading and developing scientific teams in a fast-paced biotech environment.
