Director, Principal Giving

Responsibilities

• Design and execute global major giving strategy focusing on high-net-worth individuals and family foundations
• Build and manage a high-value donor pipeline to secure six-figure gifts and above
• Develop tailored engagement and stewardship strategies for donors
• Leverage intermediary channels like donor-advised funds and private banks to expand reach
• Coordinate high-touch cultivation events, regional convenings, and philanthropic forums
• Build relationships with board members to develop pathways into priority prospects
• Manage board-facing communications and prepare briefing packages for key external moments
• Lead within the Partnerships and Philanthropy Division to shape vision and team growth
• Champion data-driven decision-making using CRM tools and performance analytics
• Represent the organization externally through speaking engagements and strategic briefings

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required
• 10+ years of experience raising major and principal gifts
• Proven success managing multi-million-dollar fundraising portfolios
• Strong knowledge of individual giving trends
• Exceptional relationship management, negotiation, and communication skills
• Experience with CRM platforms like Salesforce
• Ability to synthesize complex ideas into compelling value propositions

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Business, Nonprofit Management, Environment, Energy, or Climate
• Experience in clean energy, climate, or international development sectors

Benefits

• Annualized starting salary of $160,000-$190,000
• 28 days annual leave plus end-of-year office closure
