About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the administration, organization, and daily operations of the Student Accessibility Services (SAS) office.
- Supervise two professional staff members and manage the annual departmental budget.
- Review disability documentation, including medical and psychological assessments, to recommend reasonable academic and housing accommodations.
- Oversee requests for housing and dining accommodations, as well as Emotional Support Animals.
- Coordinate services and equipment, including assistive technology, note-takers, and sign language interpreters.
- Maintain a database system to monitor student needs and report on the effectiveness of service delivery.
- Ensure university compliance with Section 504, ADA, ADAAA, and the Fair Housing Act.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- At least five years of professional experience in student disability services or related academic student support services.
- At least one year of experience providing leadership or supervision to professional staff, graduate assistants, or student employees.
- Proven experience determining and coordinating academic and housing accommodations under ADA, ADAAA, Section 504, and FHA.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience using institutional case management systems (e.g., Slate) to track accommodation requests and outcomes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams).
- Strong ability to problem-solve, collaborate, mediate conflict, and negotiate in challenging situations.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support outreach and accommodation processes.
