Director of the Learning Center

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evaluate academic support and enrichment programs to increase student persistence and retention.
• Provide vision for the Learning Center through evidence-based programming, including peer tutoring and early interventions.
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise peer tutors, providing mentorship and pre-professional development.
• Oversee the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC).
• Design and lead workshops, presentations, and training events for students, parents, and faculty.
• Partner with campus units, including Student Accessibility Services, to promote Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
• Track and maintain student data to support institutional retention goals.
• Manage the Learning Center budget and conduct benchmarking studies to identify best practices.

Requirements

• Master’s degree.
• Educational training in writing instruction, reading and learning strategies, and study/time management skills.
• Experience delivering higher education academic support services (e.g., academic coaching, tutoring, or Supplemental Instruction).
• Proven leadership, management, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to design, implement, and assess workshops and training sessions.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage complex timelines and multiple partners.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse student populations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctoral degree.
• Experience supporting or administering CRLA International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC).
• Educational background or experience working with English language learners.
• Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
