Director of Student Fellowships & Research

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and administration for the College’s fellowship advising program
• Oversee nomination processes for national fellowships and Bowdoin-funded student research awards
• Develop strategies to identify, recruit, and support students and alumni in seeking competitive academic opportunities
• Direct policies and administrative processes for research opportunities, including Summer Research Fellowships and Mini-Grants
• Liaise with students, faculty, the Student Fellowships Committee, and national funding agencies
• Manage departmental budgets and oversee administrative processes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required
• 1-3 years of related experience required (4-7 years preferred)
• Strong knowledge of national fellowships and undergraduate research administration
• Proven skills in writing, editing, and interpersonal communication
• Experience with budget management and supervising others
• Proficiency in database and website management tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree
• Experience in academic advising or mentoring
• Knowledge of laws and regulations concerning research compliance
• Experience with grant writing or working with national foundations
