Director of Special Services

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate the Special Education and English as a New Language (ENL) programs to ensure high-quality instruction and compliance with NY Learning Standards.
• Design and implement data-driven practices to evaluate and modify existing programs.
• Manage plans to address critical scholar needs, including behavioral, cognitive, language, and medical/health requirements.
• Supervise and support the performance of Learning Specialists, Special Education Coaches, and related service providers.
• Collaborate with leadership to develop comprehensive K-12 assessment programs and implement Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
• Design and lead professional development and in-service programs for staff based on network priorities.
• Serve as the primary liaison with the Committee on Special Education and maintain communication with families and community stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Special Education, English as a New Language (ENL), or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of administrative or leadership experience in an educational setting.
• Deep understanding of NY Learning Standards.
• Extensive experience in curriculum development and MTSS/RTI frameworks.
• Strong skills in human relations, communication, problem-solving, and organization.
