Director of Software Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the software engineering organization across flight software, ground systems, mission operations, and autonomy
• Establish technical vision, engineering standards, and development processes for mission-critical software
• Partner with systems engineering and executive leadership to align software roadmaps with company objectives
• Drive software architecture decisions for scalable spacecraft platforms
• Build and mentor engineering managers, technical leads, and individual contributors
• Oversee the software development lifecycle including requirements, testing, and release management
• Ensure products meet mission assurance, cybersecurity, and reliability requirements
• Champion modern practices including DevSecOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native architectures

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• 12+ years of software engineering experience with significant leadership responsibility
• Experience delivering complex software for aerospace, defense, robotics, or autonomous systems
• Proven success leading software organizations through rapid growth
• Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, or embedded systems
• Experience managing engineering budgets, staffing, and technical roadmaps
• U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required for ITAR compliance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing spacecraft flight software or mission planning software
• Familiarity with aerospace software standards and mission assurance practices
• Background in DevSecOps, digital engineering, or model-based systems engineering
• Active U.S. Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance
