Director of Software Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead a technical area within the Consumer and Community Banking team, driving innovation in low-latency solutions and agentic AI-enabled engineering practices.
• Engage with business stakeholders to translate complex problems into technical specifications for engineering teams.
• Deliver and own end-to-end cutting-edge low latency solutions using industry best practices.
• Set direction and governance for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC/TLM automation to improve speed, quality, and operational outcomes.
• Champion engineering excellence through coaching, mentoring, and resolving technical impediments.
• Partner with leadership to drive modernization initiatives, non-functional requirements, and cloud adoption using AWS.
• Create and maintain detailed technology roadmaps and ensure architectural decisions align with organizational strategy.
• Maintain governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and cost of ownership.

Requirements

• 10+ years of applied software engineering experience with formal training or certification.
• 5+ years of experience in technical leadership, managing and solving complex technical issues.
• Extensive hands-on experience designing full-stack, cloud-native distributed systems with high availability and scalability using Java Spring.
• Proven experience handling large volumes of data with databases such as PostgreSQL or Oracle.
• Experience leading the adoption of agentic AI-enabled engineering practices and understanding responsible AI use/governance.
• Strong understanding of cloud technologies, SDLC automation, and software engineering best practices.
• Ability to navigate rapidly changing directions and establish technical patterns quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with hiring top talent and coaching individuals and managers toward high performance.
• Knowledge of the Lending and/or Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) industry.
• Experience collaborating with third parties to integrate and leverage external capabilities.
