Director of Software Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead technology and process implementations to achieve functional objectives within Consumer & Community Banking.
• Drive the end-to-end delivery of large-scale credit card platform initiatives, managing scope, risk, and dependencies.
• Set direction and governance for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC automation to improve speed and quality.
• Provide architectural direction for platform engineering, designing highly available, fault-tolerant, and low-latency systems.
• Champion the adoption of AI-driven development practices, including automated testing and predictive defect analysis.
• Partner with risk, compliance, and information security teams to embed controls into the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with enterprise architecture to ensure alignment with cloud strategy and technology standards.

Requirements

• 10+ years of applied software engineering experience with formal training or certification.
• 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical challenges.
• Proven experience architecting and delivering large-scale, high-availability distributed systems.
• Hands-on expertise with Java/Kotlin, reactive/asynchronous frameworks, and containerized environments.
• Extensive experience with AWS services, including architecture, deployment, and optimization.
• Experience in the banking or financial services domain, specifically with digital wallets or payments.
• Experience leading the adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices and understanding responsible AI governance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with architectural modeling languages such as UML or the C4 model.
• Hands-on experience with event-driven architecture patterns, including Kafka, event sourcing, and CQRS.
• Exposure to AI/ML tooling, large language model integration, or AI-assisted software development.
• Demonstrated expertise in building 0-to-1 applications from concept to launch.
• Experience managing large volumes of data for settlement and reconciliation workflows.
