Director of Software Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead technical areas and drive impact within Consumer and Community Banking by overseeing complex projects and solution engineering.
• Set direction and governance for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC/TLM automation to improve speed, quality, and operational outcomes.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that enhance customer experiences.
• Make critical decisions regarding team resources, budgets, tactical operations, and process implementation.
• Carry governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and maintainability.
• Influence peer leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams.
• Champion a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

Requirements

• 10+ years of applied software engineering experience with formal training or certification.
• 5+ years of experience in technical leadership, managing and solving complex technical challenges.
• Proven experience leading the adoption of agentic AI-enabled engineering practices and responsible AI use.
• Practical experience with cloud-native technologies and distributed systems.
• Expertise in Big Data, cloud technology, and using AI/ML to improve software quality.
• Experience developing and leading cross-functional teams of technologists.
• Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage complex technical domains.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills for high-visibility transformation programs.
• Ability to assess risk and make decisions with a holistic, big-picture perspective.
• Action-oriented and decisive leadership style.
