Director of Software Engineering, Core Platform

Responsibilities

• Own FlashBlade's architectural foundations, including metadata infrastructure, resource allocation, and system configuration layers.
• Provide strategic direction to mature early-stage data reduction capabilities into core product assets.
• Direct cross-functional engineering initiatives to unify shared infrastructure across flagship product lines.
• Lead and coach a 20+ person organization, including engineering managers and technical staff, to build a culture of accountability.
• Govern delivery health by enforcing reliability standards, automated testing disciplines, and technical debt management.

Requirements

• Proven leadership of multiple engineering teams through subordinate managers.
• Substantial background in systems software, distributed systems, or storage infrastructure.
• Experience in managing complex architectural dependencies and strategic change management.
• Strong instincts for enterprise infrastructure health, including resource budgeting and performance requirements.
• Ability to work onsite from our Santa Clara, CA office.
