Director of Science

Responsibilities

• Lead the science department to ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and student progress across KS3, KS4, and post-16.
• Be accountable for student achievement targets and progress in the subject area.
• Ensure the provision of a broad, balanced, and differentiated science curriculum.
• Manage and deploy teaching staff, support staff, and physical/financial resources effectively.
• Implement and apply school policies and procedures consistently across the faculty.
• Lead strategic planning, including curriculum development, assessment strategies, and subject improvement plans.
• Drive literacy development through the academy's WORD strategy within the science subject area.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• A relevant undergraduate degree.
• Minimum of two years of teaching experience.
• Proven track record of success in raising student achievement.
• Experience leading others and managing high-quality performance.
• High level of ICT skills and experience using technology to enhance learning.
• Experience in implementing monitoring, evaluation, and review processes.
• Ability to manage and implement successful change at a subject leader level.
