Director of Safety

Responsibilities

• Drive a multi-site safety mindset and inspire a culture of compliance with safety policies
• Guide site leadership to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations through regular audits
• Proactively recommend updates to EH&S policies, procedures, and risk mitigation programs
• Analyze safety metrics and incident trends to justify resource allocation
• Lead the Safety Committee and First Responder team
• Develop and conduct OSHA-required training and work habit programs
• Conduct risk assessments for new equipment and job functions, including ergonomic considerations
• Lead accident investigations using the 5 Why system and track corrective actions
• Partner with Human Resources to manage workers' compensation claims
• Maintain 5S databases and perform weekly audits

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental, ergonomics, or a related field, or 5+ years of relevant work experience
• 7+ years of increasing responsibility in safety or environmental programs within manufacturing, production, or service operations
• Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement
• Experience managing multiple direct reports
• Experience in fast-paced, growing organizations
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Distribution Center or Manufacturing Safety experience
• Experience managing sites with at least 250 employees (mix of exempt and non-exempt)
