About the Company
Cresilon is a Brooklyn-based biotechnology company that develops, manufactures, and markets hemostatic medical devices utilizing the company’s proprietary hydrogel technology. The company's plant-based technology has revolutionized the current standard by stopping traumatic and surgical bleeds in seconds without the need for extended manual pressure.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the R&D team across multiple parallel product development opportunities
- Provide scientific leadership and coaching to the R&D team
- Oversee discovery and innovation efforts focused on materials and technologies
- Lead technology transfer, scale-up, and process characterization and validation
- Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, SOPs, and applicable specifications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Quality
- Develop proprietary intellectual property and manage SBIR/grant activities
- Guide the development of test plan protocols, specifications, and test procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering, or Chemistry
- 10+ years of direct management experience
- 10+ years of experience in polymer materials or complex chemistry development
- Proven success leading projects from early development through regulatory submission and commercial launch
- Hands-on research experience with biomaterials, polymers, or adhesives
- Strong project management and product lifecycle management skills
- Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline
- Experience with regulated medical device design and delivery systems
- Knowledge of Class II and III medical device regulatory requirements (21 CFR Part 820)
- Experience with combination products or biologic interfaces
- Track record with SBIR submissions to NIH or DOD
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
