About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision and oversee programming for the University’s religious and spiritual life ecosystem.
  • Serve as University Chaplain, supporting students engaged in religious activities, faith traditions, and personal spiritual growth.
  • Hire, onboard, and supervise Campus Affiliate Ministers and community faith leaders.
  • Design and implement programming to increase wellness, interfaith dialogue, and ethical leadership on campus.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to lead community gatherings, vigils, or services during times of celebration, grief, or crisis.
  • Manage the departmental budget and ensure responsible fiscal management.
  • Act as a liaison between the University and the United Methodist Church.
  • Advise on religious accommodation requests and maintain a multi-faith calendar of observances.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in theology, religious studies, philosophy, ethics, spirituality, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in chaplaincy, ministry, or working with young adults.
  • Administrative experience including oversight of personnel, budgets, and programming.
  • Proven ability to work positively with diverse populations.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet University fleet rules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a campus minister, college chaplain, or in young adult ministry.
  • Ordination or certification credentials from a faith tradition.
  • Experience working within interfaith and multifaith contexts.
  • Experience in crisis management and grief/loss counseling.
  • Strong public speaking and written communication skills.
