About the role

Responsibilities

  • Direct operations of the Office of Public Communications, including Public Information, Call Center, and Print Shop
  • Formulate strategies to promote government transparency and enhance the County's digital presence
  • Develop and implement strategic communications plans and high-level messaging for elected officials
  • Serve as the chief spokesperson and manage media relations for the County
  • Oversee enterprise-wide communications programs related to change management and public awareness
  • Manage the Advantage Marketing Program to expand outreach and develop new revenue streams
  • Provide quality assurance for marketing and communications activities across various County agencies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, or a closely related field
  • 10 years of experience in high-level journalism, communications, marketing, or public relations
  • Proven experience in strategic and supervisory roles within complex organizations
  • Deep expertise in media relations, public information, and crisis communications
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse functional areas
  • Experience with digital communications, social media strategy, and website management

  • Experience with social media and website management
