Director of Product: Stratospheric Defense Systems

About the Company

Urban Sky is a venture-backed aerospace startup that pioneers utilization of the stratosphere and reimagines the way humans view and analyze the earth. We design, build, operate, and sell stratospheric balloon systems, and the data we collect supports a wide range of applications, from real-time wildfire monitoring to urban mapping.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy and roadmap for stratospheric balloon systems, payloads, software, and data products
• Interact routinely with end-users including the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and NASA
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and sales to translate customer requirements into scalable product solutions
• Oversee product lifecycle management from ideation to launch and iteration
• Develop resource and project management plans and financial models for new projects
• Act as a key point of contact for strategic government customer relationships
• Lead relationships with third-party DoD payload providers to ensure successful integration

Requirements

• US Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Located near Denver, CO
• 7+ years of product management experience
• 3+ years in a leadership role
• Direct experience developing Department of Defense (DoD) products
• Understanding of DoD networking, cybersecurity, and regulations
• Proven track record of launching complex technical products involving hardware and software integration

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree (MBA or technical MS)
• Experience with U.S. Army Special Operations Forces (SOF)
• Background in stratospheric systems, remote sensing, or earth observation
• Knowledge of government contracting and aerospace regulatory frameworks
• Established network within the aerospace or government sectors
