About the role
Responsibilities
- Recruit, develop, and retain an elite team of award-winning photojournalists and multi-skilled journalists
- Set and maintain the highest quality standards for visual storytelling across streaming, mobile, and linear platforms
- Directly supervise all photojournalists and manage their daily schedules
- Collaborate with the technology department to implement next-generation tools and high-end visual presentation tech
- Coach and mentor staff on new technology, storytelling tools, and visual content benchmarks
- Partner with station leadership to plan for major coverage and content opportunities
- Manage the station's fleet and equipment in collaboration with the News Director
- Participate in the on-call manager rotation on weekends
Requirements
- Management experience in a local TV newsroom
- Minimum of 5 years of news photojournalism experience
- Advanced skills in shooting, lighting, and non-linear editing for news and production
- Proficiency in After Effects and other tools to elevate visual presentation through graphical creativity
- Fluency in ENG and SNG operation and digital file transfer technologies
Preferred Qualifications
- DSLR camera and drone knowledge
- Journalism and/or Mass Communication degree
