Director of Operations

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise manufacturing teams, including Production Managers, Supervisors, and hourly employees.
• Set strategic direction for the facility to deliver high-quality products while maximizing profitability.
• Plan and monitor day-to-day business operations and manage workflow to meet production schedules.
• Manage manufacturing overhead and direct labor costs within the P&L.
• Act as a change agent by implementing and sustaining lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Serve as the Safety Champion, ensuring all health and safety programs and environmental compliance standards are met.
• Partner with senior leaders in Materials, Engineering, and Sales to resolve technical issues and drive root cause corrective actions.
• Mentor direct and indirect reports to support staff development and training needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in a custom manufacturing environment.
• 7+ years of experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
• Proven track record of leading high-performing teams with a focus on change management.
• Strong expertise in Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/MRP systems (Mapics experience is a plus).
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to resolve conflicts and build teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in specialty vehicle manufacturing.
• Advanced degree in business or engineering.
