Director of Operations

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations and field service activities, ensuring seamless coordination between sample collection and analytical workflows
• Manage field logistics including sample routing, courier scheduling, and cold chain integrity
• Directly manage, mentor, and develop a multi-site team of laboratory analysts, field technicians, and operations coordinators
• Implement LEAN methodologies and champion continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and laboratory accreditation standards
• Report operational and analytical metrics to senior leadership

Requirements

• BS/BA in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of management experience
• At least 2 years in a leadership role managing laboratory, field operations, or logistics personnel
• Demonstrated experience managing geographically distributed teams
• Professional working proficiency in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a related scientific field
• Proficiency in LIMS and routing/logistics software
• Working knowledge of EPA methods and drinking water/wastewater regulatory frameworks
• Experience with laboratory accreditation requirements
