Director of Mental Hygiene Policy

Responsibilities

• Drive proactive identification and development of divisional policy priorities with an equity and social justice lens
• Conduct and oversee in-depth research and analysis on emerging policy issues and regulatory developments
• Synthesize research findings to develop evidence-based policy recommendations
• Prepare the Executive Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioners for City Council hearings and legislative testimony
• Lead the Division’s annual legislative agenda-setting process
• Serve as the primary liaison to key intergovernmental partners
• Facilitate cross-bureau and cross-agency collaboration
• Translate complex policy research into accessible materials for internal and external stakeholders
• Directly supervise and mentor a Policy Analyst

Requirements

• 5–7 years of experience in health policy, government affairs, or a related field
• Expertise in behavioral health systems
• Experience working with local or state government and City Council processes
• Demonstrated experience in policy analysis and producing high-quality written work products
• Master's degree in physical, biological, environmental, or social science or public health

• Supervisory experience
