Director of Mechanical Engineering

Responsibilities

• Build and guide a top-tier mechanical and design engineering team
• Set technical direction for complex mechanical hardware development
• Steer design reviews and make key trade-off decisions
• Own the full design lifecycle from concept through integration and verification
• Lead hands-on diagnostic efforts in the lab to identify root causes
• Partner with external fabrication shops and suppliers to translate designs into hardware
• Drive production velocity by identifying constraints and resolving issues

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• Minimum of 9 years of experience in mechanical design, analysis, and testing
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (NX or SolidWorks) and FEA tools
• Solid understanding of GD&T and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles
• Experience with rapid prototyping and hands-on mechanical assembly
• U.S. citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with satellite deployment mechanisms and integration/testing
• Experience with advanced manufacturing (CNC machining, 3D printing)
• Experience defining procedures for satellite environmental testing
