Director of Mechanical Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of mechanical engineering across the full development cycle, managing mechanical, soft goods, and prototype & test engineers
• Provide technical leadership on cross-functional trade-offs and architectural decisions involving thermals, fluids, mechanisms, and sensing
• Shape and execute the hardware product roadmap in collaboration with the Chief Product Officer and executive team
• Travel to Asia to ensure teams and suppliers are delivering successfully against goals
• Hire, coach, and grow a world-class engineering team while implementing efficient design reviews and phase gates

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience developing complex electromechanical systems (e.g., consumer electronics, automotive, or medical devices)
• 2+ years of experience directly managing mechanical and product design engineers
• Deep expertise in injection molding, electronics/sensor integration, and mechanism design
• Proven track record of scaling products to high-volume production in Asia
• Proficiency in DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, and GD&T
• BSME degree or equivalent
• Willingness and ability to travel to China as needed
