About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of mechanical engineering across the full development cycle, managing mechanical, soft goods, and prototype & test engineers.
- Provide technical leadership on cross-functional trade-offs and architectural decisions involving thermals, fluids, mechanisms, and sensing.
- Shape and execute the hardware product roadmap in collaboration with the Chief Product Officer and executive team.
- Partner with electrical engineering, software, operations, and marketing to ensure successful product launches.
- Hire, coach, and grow a world-class engineering team while fostering a culture of excellence.
- Implement efficient systems and processes, including design reviews and phase gates.
- Travel to Asia to ensure suppliers and teams are delivering successfully against goals.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience developing complex electromechanical systems (e.g., consumer electronics, automotive, or medical devices).
- 2+ years of direct experience managing mechanical and product design engineers.
- Proven track record of launching products successfully under aggressive timelines with lean teams.
- Deep expertise in injection molding, electronics/sensor integration, and mechanism design.
- Strong proficiency in DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, and GD&T.
- BSME degree or equivalent.
- Willingness and ability to travel to China as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with thermal engineering, fluid systems, actuators, and soft goods.
- Experience scaling products to high-volume production in Asia.
