Director of Maintenance (Automation and Facilities)

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy a North America-wide maintenance strategy aligned with operational and business goals
• Lead uptime optimization initiatives for critical material handling systems including conveyors, sorters, and robotics
• Oversee facility infrastructure such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building systems
• Manage vendor contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs) for facilities services
• Partner with Engineering and IT to deploy new automation technologies and digital tools like CMMS and IoT monitoring
• Lead capital planning, budgeting, and execution for maintenance, spare parts, and automation projects
• Build and lead a high-performing regional maintenance organization consisting of managers, site leaders, and technicians
• Define and track key KPIs including equipment uptime, MTBF, MTTR, and maintenance cost per unit
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies to drive continuous improvement across sites

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial)
• 10+ years of leadership experience in maintenance, facilities, manufacturing, or logistics environments
• Strong experience with automated material handling systems
• Willingness to travel across North America (approximately 10–25%)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree (MBA or Engineering)
• Certification in Lean Six Sigma
• Experience leading large-scale capital projects exceeding $5M
• Familiarity with WMS/WCS systems and integration
