Director of Library

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and management for the University’s library services, including the Weis Library and Curriculum Library
• Recruit, train, supervise, and appraise library personnel
• Formulate library policies and prepare the annual operating budget
• Manage the library facility, including space allocation, maintenance, and security
• Coordinate the introduction of technological advances to support student learning
• Organize resources for optimum access and provide library instruction to students and faculty
• Maintain working relationships with library consortiums such as ALICE and MDL
• Prepare statistical reports and operational usage updates for the Provost

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited program
• Demonstrated experience using print and digital resources, online databases, and the Internet
• Strong understanding of and commitment to information literacy
• Excellent managerial, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)

Preferred Qualifications

• At least five years of appropriate library administrative experience
• Experience working in an academic environment associated with a consortium
• Experience with OCLC WorldShare Management Services
