Director of Lavery Library

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, strategic planning, and development for all library policies, services, and budgets.
• Act as the primary advocate for the library, building collaborative relationships across campus to support student success and faculty research.
• Supervise library personnel, support unit staff, and the Director of the Writing/Tutoring Center.
• Establish and execute a strategic vision that integrates information literacy into the curriculum.
• Manage an annual budget of approximately $2 million, ensuring fiscal alignment with institutional goals.
• Oversee talent development, performance management, and mentorship for a high-performance team.
• Assess virtual and physical student services and initiate new programs to improve collections and service delivery.
• Serve on University governance bodies, committees, or councils as required.

Requirements

• Master of Library Science (MLS) or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution.
• Minimum of 7 years of increasingly progressive library leadership experience.
• Proven experience supervising individuals or teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong understanding of the academic support and technology needs of students and faculty.
• Experience with evidence-based decision-making to improve library services.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate and sustain high-level partnerships with external stakeholders.
