Director of Hardware Product Compliance

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve WHOOP’s global product compliance and safety strategy to align with business objectives.
• Establish governance models, standards, and best practices for consistent compliance execution across all product lines.
• Lead certification and regulatory programs from early development through mass production and global launch.
• Integrate compliance milestones into product roadmaps to ensure reliable and on-time market entry.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for international regulatory authorities and certification partners.
• Oversee structured risk assessment and mitigation practices, including DFMEA methodologies.
• Partner with engineering, product management, manufacturing, and legal teams to embed compliance early in the design process.
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing global compliance organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in product compliance, safety engineering, or regulatory affairs.
• Proven leadership experience within a growing or global product organization.
• Strong working knowledge of international compliance standards such as UL, CE, FCC, and IEC.
• Experience managing certification programs across multiple products and diverse geographies.
• Familiarity with structured risk assessment and product safety methodologies.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to present technical insights to senior leadership.
