Director of Finance

Responsibilities

• Own the company-wide financial model, 3-statement model, and 13-week cash forecast to guide hiring, inventory, and marketing spend
• Build and scale the finance function from a founder-plus-bookkeeper setup into a reliable system for month-end close and reporting
• Define SKU and channel-level margins, pricing guardrails, and CAC/payback rules to drive profitability
• Partner closely with Sales, Buying, and Operations to translate data into actionable business decisions
• Manage high-level tax and corporate structure strategy in partnership with external advisors

Requirements

• Proven track record of building or rebuilding a finance function from scratch in a founder-led ecommerce, retail, or inventory-heavy business
• Direct experience with inventory accounting, SKU-level P&Ls, and ecommerce complexities (fees, shipping, returns, etc.)
• Expert-level financial modeling and cash management skills
• High ownership mindset with the ability to thrive and make decisions in low-structure, high-growth environments
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial trade-offs to non-finance leaders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting M&A, exits, or buyer due diligence for retail or ecommerce businesses
• Experience raising debt or growth capital (bank lines, asset-backed facilities, or revenue-based lending)
• Prior experience in the trading card, collectibles, or hobby industry
• Experience preparing companies for audits or lender due diligence
