Director of Finance/Controller

Responsibilities

• Manage all accounting-related functions including payroll, cash receipts, accounts payable, and student billing
• Oversee endowment accounting, investments, and the reconciliation of grants and donor gifts
• Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with College leadership and ensure adherence to budget policies
• Manage short-term cash forecasting and perform complex monthly bank reconciliations
• Oversee the College Bookstore and Mail & Print Center
• Manage the annual year-end audit, including the preparation of financial statements and SEFA
• Coordinate the renewal of property/casualty insurance policies and manage risk management claims
• Monitor and improve internal controls and oversee accounting for construction projects and debt financing
• Supervise financial services employees and report to the CFO/VP for Business Affairs

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible management experience in an accounting operation
• Demonstrated knowledge of non-profit accounting under FASB
• Proficiency in spreadsheet applications and organization-wide accounting software systems
• Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
• Experience managing accounting functions or auditing within a higher education environment
• Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, and diverse populations
