Director of Facility Operations and Planning

Responsibilities

• Provide university-wide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all facilities, infrastructure, and long-range capital planning
• Lead campus master planning and facilities initiatives in alignment with institutional strategy and academic programming
• Direct the planning, design, and execution of capital projects and major renovations
• Oversee buildings, utilities, grounds, custodial, maintenance, and distribution services
• Develop and monitor operating and capital budgets, including long-term infrastructure reinvestment forecasting
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and safety codes
• Lead campus energy management, conservation, and sustainability initiatives
• Recruit, supervise, and develop facilities staff through effective performance management and workforce planning

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field
• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in facilities operations, capital planning, or construction management
• 5+ years in a senior leadership role within a large, complex organization
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and capital project delivery
• Proficiency with facilities planning, design, and asset management software (e.g., AutoCAD or equivalent)
• Strong ability to analyze complex data and interpret technical plans and drawings
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related discipline
• Experience in facilities management specifically within a higher education environment
• Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) or equivalent professional certification
